Why Foster?

Here are some of the reasons our current foster parents enjoy doing what they do...

"I foster because I know that it is a valuable service to rescue greyhounds. When I open my home to fostering, I know that I am helping to save more lives than if I was only adopting. Also, Madison likes being the only dog, so by fostering she only has to temporarily have a sibling." -Michelle W

"Fostering enables us to bring in as many dogs as possible during a haul and more dogs equals more people and families that get to discover the joy of having a grey in their life.  It also gives the group the opportunity to find out all about a certain greys personality so that they can find the best match for him/her.  When my girl Alice came in, she was fostered for 5 days until I was ready for her and for that I am forever grateful to Susan and the whole WCGA team.  (and that is not just because Susan got the pleasure of doing all the de-ticking of my slightly infested angel)  I can't imagine my life without my beautiful perfect (for me) petite tank and I know that is what it is like for those families who give my fosters forever homes."  -Kellie

Mary Lynne's Top reasons to foster a greyhound

  • Being able to help transition a dog to its forever home by teaching them about their life after retirement.
  • The unconditional love we humans receive by having the hound in our home.
  • The enjoyment of being able to watch them blossom into an actual pet or “doggy-dog” as I call it.
  • You can have an animal in your home without any out of pocket expense.
  • You can have a greyhound and learn more about their personality/personalities.
